About the Role
We’re looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a back end focus to join our high-impact product and engineering team. Your core expertise will be in Java and Spring Boot, building performant, scalable APIs and backend systems. You’ll also collaborate on frontend work in React/TypeScript to deliver seamless, end-to-end user experiences.
You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to architect new features, improve existing systems, and solve complex problems that help borrowers and lenders connect more efficiently. This role reports directly to the Head of Product.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Architect and optimize backend systems for scalability, security, and performance
- Integrate backend services with React/TypeScript frontend applications
- Contribute to frontend development where needed — building UI components, integrating APIs, and ensuring responsive design
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and design teams to turn requirements into technical solutions
- Work with relational and non-relational databases to store and retrieve application data
- Write comprehensive tests for backend (JUnit) and frontend (Vitest) components
- Debug and resolve issues across the full stack, from database queries to UI rendering
- Stay current with emerging backend and frontend technologies, contributing to technical decisions and best practices
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in an agile environment
- Strong expertise in Java 21, Spring Boot 3, and RESTful API development
- Familiarity with React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 for frontend work
- Familiarity with Event Driven Architectures (Kafka mainly)
- Proficiency in authentication flows (OAuth)
- Proficiency in database design and querying (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Experience with version control and collaboration tools (Git/GitHub)
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Interest in Fintech and a passion for building tools that improve access to capital
- Interest in using AI-based tooling to accelerate workflow (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.)
Bonus Points
- Experience deploying applications in AWS or similar cloud environments
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace or ELK stack
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and build automation tools
- Knowledge of OpenAPI specification and on demand code generation
- PDF templating experience
